"Soft tissues and Restorative treatment of root resroption"

External cervical resorption (ECR) is a relatively uncommon and potentially aggressive form of external root resorption that begins below the epithelial attachment at the cervical region of the tooth and whose precise aetiology is poorly understood. Its asymptomatic nature at early stages and the lack of clinical signs makes early diagnosis challenging. Traditional two-dimensional radiographs frequently underestimate the extent of the lesion, leading to wrong diagnosis or inappropriate treatments. In this lecture we’ll show how to support the integration of CBCT into ECR management and we’ll propose a decision-making algorithm to guide clinicians in treatment planning using Patel’s three-dimensional classification of lesions and considers the dental site and accessibility for restoration.
