"Adhesion explained: bonding and luting in modern dentistry"

In recent years, advancements in adhesive techniques have significantly transformed the
landscape of restorative dentistry. The optimal utilization of adhesives necessitates
meticulous adherence to manufacturer guidelines, coupled with a profound understanding
of the chemical and biological fundamentals underlying the adhesive procedures.
This report aims to delineate efficacious protocols for the treatment of dental substrates,
encompassing both enamel and dentin. The focus will be on the utilization of "etch & rinse"
"self-etch" or the recent “universal” adhesive systems.
Additionally, the analysis will extend to various materials employed in indirect restorations,
as well as a comprehensive examination of pre-treatment techniques and materials
essential for accurate cementation. This exploration will be grounded in a thorough review
of pertinent scientific literature.
Furthermore, the report will incorporate clinical insights to facilitate the attainment of
enduringly stable cementation of dental artifacts, thereby contributing to the sustained
success of restorative procedures.
