Проф. Луиджи Дженерали

Prof. Luigi Generali’s present position is Associate Professor of Endodontics at the Department of Surgery, Medicine, Dentistry and Morphological Sciences with Transplant Surgery, Oncology and Regenerative Medicine Relevance (CHIMOMO), University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UniMoRe).
He graduated in Odontoiatria e Protesi Dentaria cum laude at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He attended a one year specialization course in Oral Surgery, one year in Clinical Endodontics and one year in Conservative Dentistry at UniMore. He started his research activity in 2005 as a research fellow for 2 years, working on the clinical, microbiological and epidemiologic aspects of periradicular lesions of endodontics origin. At the end of 2006, he became Assistant Professor at UniMoRe. He is responsible for the Reconstructive Dentistry (Bachelor Degree in Dental Hygiene), Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics (Master Degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics) courses and he is the head of the post-graduate course in Endodontics at UniMore.
He is responsible of the outpatient clinic Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics activity at Azienda Ospedaliero Universitaria Policlinico di Modena.
From 1 November 2018 he became Head of School of Dentistry at UniMore.
From 1 November 2021 he became Associate Professor.
Both Prof. Generali’s teaching and research activities have been focused on endodontic topics; clinical aspects have been investigated (diagnosis and treatment of oral pathologies, such as pulp and periapical pathologies), but, recently, a second main research path has been followed, concentrating the efforts on the performance of Ni-Ti shape memory endodontic instruments. His approach is interdisciplinary, trying to merge the clinical expertise with materials engineering know-how in order to reach a better understating of the failure mechanisms of shape memory alloys instruments.
He is author and co-author of more than 160 scientific contributions (papers and conference proceedings) and 4 book chapters. 65 papers are indexed in Scopus database.
He has several national and international collaborations with research centers and dentistry tools companies, being the Principal Investigator (PI) of several applied research contracts. In 2018 he won, as PI, an interdisciplinary research funding (FAR – Athenaeum Fund for Research) from UniMoRe entitled “Microstructural and Mechanical investigation of Nickel-Titanium Endodontic instruments (MMiNTEndo).
